Sweet Jayne
Based on the Australian true story
Set against the raw, electric backdrop of 1970s Australia, Sweet Jayne follows four young women who refuse to be sidelined in a male-dominated rock scene. Armed with grit, talent, and an unmistakable sound, the band fights for legitimacy gig by gig—building a loyal following and earning their place on stage.
As they rise toward the prestigious Australasian Battle of the Bands, judged by influential radio personality Stan Rofe, their momentum is suddenly threatened when an opportunist attempts to claim ownership of their name. Young and unprepared for the realities of the industry, the band faces a defining choice: walk away or fight for their identity.
With the support of outspoken music journalist Christie Eliezer and exposure in Juke Magazine, the women take a stand transforming a moment of exploitation into one of empowerment.
Blending archival textures, live performance energy, and the intimacy of behind-the-scenes struggle, Sweet Jayne is a story of ownership, resilience, and the unbreakable bond of four women who refused to let anyone else define their legacy.
